Lutheran Student Fellowship​

Lutheran Student Fellowship is the campus ministry for many American and International students at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. In addition, Our Savior Lutheran Church serves as their church home away from home. LSF reaches out to students who don't yet know Jesus, as well as strengthens and encourages our students' faith through Word and Sacrament ministry, regular fellowship, Bible Study and (of course) food. 

 

Worship

God's Word and His Sacraments (Baptism and Holy Communion) are at the center of our Christian lives. We gather as a family of faith to worship our Lord and Savior on Sunday mornings at 10 AM. Our services are traditional Lutheran orders of worship with traditional music and Holy Communion celebrated each Sunday. 

 

Table Talk

Immediately following the Sunday worship service, LSF provides a free home-cooked meal for college students, as well as a brief Bible study. The conversation is great, as is the food, and don't worry--- we get you home with plenty of time to do your homework. 

 

Free Student Housing

We have an apartment located in our church building for a student to live in for free!  In exchange for free housing, we ask the student to do approximately 3-4 hours a week of light custodial duties.  Pictures and more information about the apartment are found here.

American & Chinese Student Dinners

Approx. once a month, LSF hosts a dinner for American and Chinese college students in the homes of members of Our Savior Lutheran. Students team up to help prepare the food and get to know each other. Not only is this a great way for Chinese students to learn about our faith and culture, but it is an awesome opportunity for our students to witness their faith and share the love of Jesus Christ. 

 

Fellowship

Our "life together" here at SIU is very important, and LSF provides several opportunities for us to gather together. From movies and pizza to hog roasts and horseback riding, fellowship is an important part of campus ministry here.

Our pastors are always available to you! If you would like pastoral care, counseling, someone to bounce ideas off of, or simply a friend; please feel free to contact either of our pastors. Get-a-way from campus

We have a comfortable TV lounge to sit with friends and relax, or you can get into a little competition on our pool table or ping pong tables. We also are a getaway for studies. We offer a very quiet facility and a lot of space for uninterrupted study, and we have free wifi available for student use. The church is open from 8 AM to 10 PM every day for private devotional time, studying, or hanging out.
